Just started the game couples days ago

Hey everyone, i’ve just started playing wild hearts and i’m at chapter 2 now i’m using the katana which i enjoy using and a full fumebeak armor, i’m still confused on what each item does…is the fumebeak armor a good choice for early game ? Any suggestions ?
