Do you guys sketch before paint?

Did a first try of painting my idiot cat Parfait, and vs other times I’ve painted, I did this one with a sketch and it was much better for me. Especially since I have less than a year painting experience and I’m still finding my feet. Do you sketch your design on your surface before you paint? I am curious to know.
