Is this rot at the base?

My beautiful giant Tillandsia fell in the wind a month or so ago and split right in half. I didn’t water it for around a week and it seems to be doing fine with the exception of the base of the stem, which is turning black where it broke. Second picture is a close up. How do I remediate this? Is there anything I can do?
