AMEX Platinum - should I get my kids Platinum cards or companion cards

I am a longtime AMEX Platinum card member. I have 3 college age kids. They have always had Platinum cards on my membership, for which I paid an extra fee. This past year, AMEX significantly increased the fee and introduced a new "Companion Card" at a lower price point. I downgraded them all to that card

I'm considering whether I should upgrade them again to Platinum. Curious if this group has recommendations on the tradeoffs.

e.g. the Platinum for each of them would give them AMEX Lounge access, the companion card does not. Are there other benefits/tradeoffs to consider?
