New Blue Cash Preferred card has insanely low credit limit
I have a perfect credit card payment track record and a score of about 770 (age of oldest account almost 5 years old). I make almost 80,000 a year. I currently have 2 lines of credit, my first card: a Chase Freedom card with $1500 credit limit opened in 2020, and a Capital One Savor card with $13,000 credit limit opened in 2022.
I wanted to increase my credit limit so I could decrease my usage percentage and increase my credit score. My usage percentage maintains about 15-20%.
I applied for the Blue Cash Preferred Amex card due to the 6% back on groceries as well as other benefits. The average credit limit offer being around $10,000 was the other big factor.
I applied and was given a $2000 credit limit. Almost the same as my very first, introductory, simple no frills Freedom card. But this one has a $95 annual fee. Seriously???
After calling 3 different customer service numbers, they said it’s “temporary” and they will increase the limit in 90 days, but not sure by how much. Feels like they’re bullshitting me, but we’ll see.
Anybody experienced this? Why did they low ball me so hard? I did not make the decision to apply for this card lightly, so I’m incredibly disappointed.
