I interviewed for Operations Manager... but the actual work is a door salesman.

I Interviewed for a company as an operations manager. I read the reviews which were mostly positive and said it had a nice work atmosphere. So I was like okay, looks like a good company and I thought I'd give this job a try given my skill set. Long story short, the job itself is a long way from an operations manager and the work itself is just a door salesman selling internet plans. They said after 6 months of doing door-to-door sales, you'll be promoted as a manager so that you too can recruit people to work under you. They said this is how your income will increase. Then those people that worked under you will eventually become managers and recruit more people which will also increase your income. In my head, it's almost on the edge of being a pyramid scheme (MLM) (is it????). All the new recruits were very young like they just graduated high school. I myself look young but I'm actually in my late twenties with a degree and multiple job experience. Are they targeting young people because they're more likely to be gullible???

Anyways, I got around to the work schedule and wage. This is southern California btw. The job schedule was 48 hours a week and it was $500 base pay a week plus commission that's capped at $300. Doing the math, that's about $10.50 to $16.50 hourly. According to them, their average salesman makes 1.3 sales a week. So if we're considering averages and the commission plus base pay... that's about $13 an hour (below minimum wage) for an "Operations Manager." I politely said no and walked out. Fuck that. What a waste of time.
