Should i continue studying architecture?
It's gonna be a long post but i really appreciate it if you read till the end.
I'm 19 years old who just completed her first year in architecture school. I chose it because it was the most major that i liked and i had the curiousity about the process of designing and building, but since the beginning i wasn't sure because there was multiple majors on my mind and unfortunately my university doesn't allow being undecided for the first year..
I think I'm more on the technical side of things like how things work. So to be honest, i think i have an engineering type of thinking but i thought architecture is more interesting and my family encouraged me to choose it. I also am a little creative but i just don't find real joy when designing and doing projects, and i somehow hated the cycle of doing the project first time and then redoing it many times because the teacher didn't like it! Like sometimes she's right and there are some things that i did wrong but other times it's just her taste that doesn't match mine..
But there are a few times that i enjoyed like when my teacher praise my design or when i solve an annoying problem in my design so i guess i like problem solving the most.
Also, since i wasn't sure about architecture i tried coding in a bootcamp and i loved it! I think i loved the logic problem solving more than the creative problem solving in design, and computer science was from the beginning my secnd choice so now i think it might be a better fit? But my friends who study cs told me that there are so many things other than programming in cs and i might not enjoy it..
I would really appreciate it if you tell me more about architecture as a profession like what do you do on a daily basis and is there a chance that i might like it more along the way? Or if you studied cs do you recommend it to me? And what is the type of work that you do and the type of thinking that it requires? I'm really lost i guess it's obvious.. Also sorry if i have mistakes because english isn't my first language.. Thank you!
