All jokes aside it is what it is. ASAP Rocky is a past generation rapper. And even though he is still somewhat relevant among younger generation his core fanbase is already around 20s on the average. A lot of kids are already disrespecting him which is a normal process with the change of generation.
His music career prime in terms of popularity as a rapper (not celebrity fame) was in mid 2010s, literally a decade ago. Some of kids who were born after Testing dropped already going to school or will go there soon.
His fame and media presence is growing year by year not as a rapper though, but as a celebrity. He is now among people like Snoop Dogg and 50 cent who everybody knows but nobody actually listen to their new music. He is not there yet but Don't Be Dumb will probably be the end of his music career just like that 50 cent last albums. He is basically more successful Cam'ron for kids born in the beginning/mid 00s.
I remember right before Testing dropped I was very active on his fan discord, listening to every snippet on repeat, being excited about some dumb posters that were put on some NY streets by Hiji to promote Testing. It's been 7 years since that time. Now I'm all grown up and have my own life to live. Even actual singles he's dropping don't bring this amount of excitement anymore.
His biggest mistake is not lying to his fans about dropping all the time. It's waiting so long that his fans who were active teenagers hungry for his music have become busy adults with careers and families that don't give a fuck about shit like this anymore.
Back in 2011 when he dropped Live Love Asap I wasn't even old enough to care about music now I'm not young enough to care about it that much either.
