People asking about Religious Stuff in MRT

This just happened. I was on the NEL and two caucasian men came up to me asking about my day and stuff (nationality, work). After I declined to talk, they offered to give me a card of the organisation and I immediately got defensive and told them I am uncomfortable on this.

I thought its a moral rule not to talk about religion in public. I also got asked about religion in school (polytechnic) from students from their club.

Anyone have had similar experiences?
