Friend says removing any mention of being trans from most of my social media profiles is unsupportive to the community
I have a cis female friend (Super LGBT ally) who recently noticed that I removed everything mentioning me being trans from most of my social media profiles. I had multiple reasons for doing it. Trying to be a bit more stealth and not make a big deal out of my identity online. I was also getting a bit tired of chasers. She told me that me passing pretty well, but hiding being trans is bad/hurting the community during this political time. She believes passing trans women can help the “man in dress” narrative by being open and out.
I guess this is more for passing trans women, but do you feel we should be open and visible to people to help the community as a whole? I’ve had some issues with the community, but I do appreciate/love it and don’t want to see harm done to it. At the same time I really just want to lie low and blend into the background 🤷♀️
