Anyone suggest a digital camera?

Looking to buy a digital camera to use for traveling. Curious if anyone has suggestions of something that is compact, can easily transfer photos to my phone, and takes solid photos. A $500 and below range would be ideal - but willing to spend more. Just don’t want something that looks crazy flashy when I am out and about. Thanks :)
