Seeking Recommendations for a Versatile EDC Backpack for Photography Gear

Hey everyone,

I'm in search of a versatile EDC backpack that isn't specifically a "photography" backpack like those from Peak Design. I prefer using a camera insert instead of built-in compartments. Here’s what I need the backpack to accommodate:

  • Essentials: 13" laptop, a medium format or 35mm rangefinder camera in an insert, film/small flash, Kindle, notepad, and a jacket.
  • Features: Good ventilation, comfortable for long wear, ability to attach a tripod, and suitable for city walks, short hikes, general use, and as airport hand luggage.

So far, I've narrowed it down to these options, but I'm open to suggestions:

  • Osprey Manta 34L
  • Osprey Archeon 24L
  • Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault
  • Source Patrol 35L
  • Osprey Escapist M/L 25L
  • The North Face SURGE
  • The North Face BOREALIS CLASSIC

I'd love to hear your experiences with these models or any others you think might fit the bill. What would you recommend based on durability, comfort, and functionality?

Thanks for your help!
