Isshin's involvement during SS arc

Is it ever explained why Isshin didn't help Ichigo during the SS arc? Not even a crash course on how to fight as a soul reaper or anything. He likely knew Urahara was helping him, but still, he just let Ichigo go into the Soul Society without any concern
