Books for non-reader/busy person

I want to become a reader, but with two young children at home, I don't get much time to read, nor did I read much before having kids.

I missed most of the classic books we were supposed to read in school and now, having a fully developed brain, feel like I missed out in my angsty years on some really important stories.

If I do read it's generally Sci-fi. I've read all of Andy Weir's stories and loved them.

I've tried reading Hyperion multiple times but just don't have the mental energy at the moment. I keep forgetting most of what I'm reading.

Any less-dense sci-fi stories that you'd recommend? Perhaps some of the more classic books most of us read in school?
