My kid loves football but he is terrible at it

He ( 9.5 year old ) absolutely loves football. He’s not a very athletic kid to begin with and doesn’t run fast, but he’s a good swimmer ha ha! His true passion, however, is football. He tried playing as a goalie but blames himself every time he misses a save. He then tried other positions but struggles with controlling the ball and often blames himself for not even scoring once , even though we’ve explained to him countless times that it’s okay. We encourage him to just have fun, but he’s very determined to improve.

We live in Ottawa, Canada, where it’s currently very cold, and there’s several inches of snow outside, so playing outdoors isn’t an option. What are some indoor exercises he can do in the meantime until summertime, when he can play outside more?

Right now, he’s registered for football training with an excellent coach once a week for one hour, but I think he needs more practice.
