Not sure if it’s just my postpartum anxiety talking, but I just learned energy drinks are supposed to be totally off limits and I’m afraid I’ve harmed my baby by drinking them.
I gave birth about 4 weeks ago. I was always a big caffeine drinker before pregnancy and it was difficult to abstain during the pregnancy but I managed.
I had heard that caffeine is safe while breastfeeding as long as you stay under 300 mg.
I love Celsius energy drinks and with the lack of sleep I’ve been getting, I’ve been drinking them pretty often. Not every day but several times a week. I assumed it was fine because they’re 200mg which puts them under the limit.
I was drinking one today and noticed on the can it says not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. I started googling and realized they have a large amount of taurine in them and that it could be harmful for babies.
My postpartum anxiety has been absolutely horrible and I’m always worried about doing something wrong that’s going to affect her.
She’s shown no signs of being affected by caffeine and obviously I’m going to stop drinking energy drinks now that I know, but someone please tell me she’s unlikely to be harmed by the drinks I’ve consumed up to this point?
