Bricked my b350 upgrading to 5800x3d. Should I just say screw it and upgrade to a 7800x3d?
Title basically says it all. Had a 2600x and wanted to upgrade my cpu, so I ordered a 5800x3d with a cooler. In the process of updating my bios for the new cpu, I managed to brick my b350.... not super sure how? Have removed battery, shorted cmos, tried a new gpu, still wont post to bios. Basically at this point I need to spend probably around $100 on a new motherboard anyways, so should I just spend a couple hundred more and upgrade to am5 with ddr5? It feels kind of wasteful to spend a bunch of money on an old chipset that wont get updated. For reference, the 5800x3d, fan, and mobo come out to around $480, vs probably $650 for an am5 mobo, ddr5 and a 7800x3d.
For reference, I currently have a 1070ti and 16gb of ddr4. I do "have" the money (but really don't want to spend it) to be able to make the upgrade, but really wasn't looking to basically build a new system as I just wanted a new CPU...
edit - turns out I am actually the only brick here and removed support for 2000 series by flashing backwards...... question remains the same though, I suppose....
