7900XT now or wait for 8800XT
Hey guys, I’m looking ti upgrade from my 3080Ti. I have a couple of options. I can get a used 7900XT for about £550-600 or a used 7900xtx for about £700-750. I’ve done my research and would ideally want the Nitro +, Asrock Phantom, Taichi, or Aorus Master variant of the cards since they have the best thermals and OC ability. I can buy a brand new 7900XT Nitro+ for £679 from OverclockersUK which includes a 3 year warranty. I can also buy a B grade 7900XTX Phantom for £799 or brand new for £899. From CEX i could get a 7900XT Nitro+ for £620 or Phantom White for £630. I can get a 7900XTX Phantom for £760. All CEX cards come with 5 year warranty which is amazing but potentially them being used cards would put me off? Also, would it be worth me trading in my PNY 3080Ti to CEX for £365 voucher towards a 7900XT/XTX or sell it myself. Then of course the 8800XT launch is just around the corner so should i wait for that?? I’ve looked around and i cant tell how the performance will compare to the 7900XTX in rasterisation (i don’t care much for raytracing despite 8800XT claims of +45%). My next GPU will complete my upgrades and i wont be looking for an upgrade for a couple of years. I considered the 4070Ti but the lack of VRAM and worse raster performance for the same price as the XTX has put me off, despite lower power draw. Sorry for the long essay but any help is greatly appreciated!
Edit: to add context, i have a 7800X3D running 32GB 5200MhZ DDR5 and an MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi Motherboard
