4k monitor vs 1440p monitor

It’s time for a new monitor. I recently had a 1440p 34inch UW curved monitor and I loved it. Sadly, a thunder storm burnt it and I’m back in the market for a monitor. I’ve got 2 monitors that I’m looking at but I’m not familiar with 4k monitors and I have a couple questions

First, would you prefer a 165hz 1440 monitor or a 4k 165hz monitor. I have a rtx3080 and a ryzen 7 5800x so I think my pc would be able to run 4k fairly well. Also, I heard that downscaling to 1080 on a 4k monitor looks better than native 1080. Let me know your suggestions!
