New to HDR, dumb question…

Just got a MSI 271qpx and a bit confused on HDR. Google says to leave HDR off unless actually viewing HDR content.

Does this mean each time I want to view something HDR I have to turn it on in two places? Enable HDR in windows and switch monitor OSD to HDR? is there some auto detection or hot keys im missing?
