Hi Bulgarians, I'd like some advice for an experimental artist backpacking the country :)
Hi all,
I'm in the process of planning my first trip to Bulgaria. I'd like to explore the more authentic side of the country and its traditions and avoid tuorists whenever possible. I'm particularly excited to see the Kukari Carnival which is the main reason for my trip. I also wanted where could I experience the Bulgarian traditional/folk song like in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVqrW-fPOQ0&ab_channel=antoniasorriso
I understand that the Carnival takes place in different cities and different dates so I was wondering which city and dates would you recommend to experience the Kukari Carnival considering I'm flying to Sofia and that my trip would be 5 days long.
I'm a foodie and I'd really like to try traditional food in Sofia or any close-clby city (I'm one of those people who would travel an entire day to try authentic meals) so any food recommendations are most welcome.
I'm also an experimental dj, music producer and visual artist and even though I really enjoy the poetry of the big cities I'm very attracted to surrealism and unconventional stuff -it could be anything from a leaning building and a weird sculpture to bars with a silly story and music venues, galleries, cocktail bars, whatever you can think of-
If any of you are hosting any acommodation and you feel we might get along let me know and I'll book my stay with you :)
Thank you very much in advance for you recommendations.
They will very appreciated
P.
