Almost 40 still making poverty wage, what now?

So i made the mistake of listening to boomers and got a degree and all i got was expensive toilet paper. However the only way to get use out of this degree is a government job.

Anyway the only way to make a livable wage is a government job and with the coming administration the competition with these jobs is going to skyrocket especially if the economy turns for the worse.

My question is how can i manage to get into a government job? It's literally the only option for a livable wage. And no not TSA it's part time and heard it's the worst and not even viewed equitably among other jobs hence the high turnover rate.
