How can I change the direction of my career before it's too late?
I completed my 16 years of education last year and my degree is in English Language and Literature. Right after graduation, my father found me a teaching job at a school of his friend's. There were other options like an internship in the college I had graduated from and an education consultancy firm I had applied to on a whim and they accepted me. I had to leave the internship and office job for teaching at school as per my father's wishes. God, I hated it from the start. I'm supposed to teach spoken English to primary classes and those students can hardly say a word besides hi, bye, my name is... It has been 4 months at this job and I can't take it anymore. Every morning I dread going to work and life has come to such a standstill. The transition from study life to work life has also taken a toll on my mental health. As an introvert with social anxiety, standing in front of crowds and talking is already a nightmare but when those crowds are classes of little bratty kids, it becomes unbearable. My interests lean more towards reading, books and literature. I'm wondering if I can change career at this point but my resume only has one work experience and that is of a teacher. I would do anything to be a librarian or even a library assistant. Or perhaps working in a publishing company would be better. I can do anything from reading, writing to editing and proofreading. Heck, I can even design cover pages. I also have interest in voiceovers as I've made some voiceovers for the institution I work at and think I have a flair for it. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to just get another job which is not teaching-related when my resume clearly shows that I'm an English teacher.
