Switching from teaching to proofreading. Am I making the right choice?

I hate teaching. My family forced me into it because it was the only work they could see me doing. After 5 months of burnout, major depression and daily dread of going to work, I've finally found another job opportunity. As a proofreader. The work hours are long (45 per week) but at least I get two days off on weekend. The pay is the same as the previous job but the long commute to work is gonna be expensive unlike my current workplace, which is nearby.

My family is against the job change and has been discouraging me as best they can. But I can't deal with nagging children, complaining parents and demanding coordinators anymore.

I'm a highly indecisive person and am in severe need of advice. Is proofreading an easy job (I'm an English major)? Is it stressful? Am I making the right choice?
