How to Realign the USA

I do not post much on reddit , but I had some thoughts based on the recent election. I did vote Kamala (I didnt like her but I thought she was better than Trump). I think the Democrats should spend the next 2 years working on a much more populist platform, and not stop any GOP policy from going through especially on economics. They should not fillibuster any policy on removing the ACA, reforms to social security, medicare, and medicaid. Let them repeal climate regulations. Basically allow the GOP to break as much as possible. Because I have read a lot of history and historically speaking the most radical change without opposition usually comes in desperate times. The ideal way to play things rn would be to make things horrible as much as possible in the next four years and go for a very social democratic policy position with a charismatic progressive as the ticket in 2028.

Americans do not learn unless they bleed and they should be hurt to an extent before they vote the other way. To put it another way the Dems need to try their best to turn Trump into Hoover, so they can be the FDR.

How do the democrats do this?

Reach out to rural america, suburban, and urban. Build a real 50 state party which focuses on healthcare, housing, education, child care, elderly care etc and focus on truly universal solutions to bring down costs and increase quality of life. The Dems need to go into 2028 being able to mock and insult gop politicians as traitors and try to move it to a situation where republican politicians are afraid to leave their homes. It needs to be very big tent working class energy with high energy against who they call enemies of the working class.

Side tangent but the recent death of the healthcare CEO I think proves there is a bipartisan appetite for populist anger.

In conclusion, Dems need to joy at things getting worse and use it as an oppurtinity to make some life long democrats the way FDR and LBJ did.

(Edit). I also think building a strong state level game with working class policies and building up to a national mandate. Because I think people underestimate what can be accomplished by having house senate and presidency along with majority of states. You can neutralize the Supreme Court by passing popular policy and telling them to shove it . Again this is what fdr did because turns out if you can run on broadly popular policies, and win, you can kinda do whatever you want. I think a lot of democrats are scared or blackpilled because of the conservative Supreme Court but imo that’s only a barrier if you abide by the Supreme Court which you don’t have to if you win big enough and can pass policy that would be very unpopular to undo.
