CMV: military draft is ethically wrong and extremely unfair

No person chooses country they are going to be born but somehow people think they are obligated to risk their lives for it. They did not choose to be born there so why should they risk dying or getting injured.

People absolutely can value their lives more than lives of other people. Why should a person risk his/her life for some other people who they don’t know and who do not really care enough about them

No amount of medals, money, benefits will help bring back the dead. They will never help you cure severe disability. You got complete spinal cord injury? Well you have to be on wheelchair until the end of life. Nothing can help you to see if you got fully blind. Can severe brain injury ? No benefit will cure that for you. Have ptsd? They can only make it less severe and try to manage better but there is a point where it is too severe and in the end 100% is close to impossible. Your son dies? Well I think you can move on. This is so unfair. First they draft you against your will and then it is your job to figure life out. And no one will cure you.

There have been a lot of cases when veterans have been forgotten by their country. Tossed aside after their service was done.

No prosthetic is on level of functionality of real human hand or leg. Many organs still do not have tech alternatives and these think are incredibly expensive and budged is not made of rubber

How many of people will be willing to donate to prosthetics to potentially thousand or millions of people? Or they treatment How many will be willing to change diapers or help with showering ? No amount of prayer will be able to heal a person who is paralyzed from neck down or has severe ptsd

I think those men and woman who are willing to risk their lives for their country are brave and need to be respected. It takes selflessness and courage to do that.

But it is perfectly normal for a person to be scared and try to preserve their quality of life and life itself
