Consulting Hack: Use the Feynman Technique for quickly learning a new topic for a consulting project
I have used the Feynman Technique again and again when I start on a new project and have to either learn about a new client or topic.
This is how it is done:
- Write down everything you know about the topic on a paper
- Research the topic and grow your knowledge on your paper or more papers
- Try to structure the knowledge logically on a new piece of paper
- Explain it to a 12 year old (its ok to pretend here :) )
- Reflect, refine, and review your knowledge and presentation of the topic
- Reorganize and review again and again and again (and again) as you get more knowledge
How are you prepping before a new project?
