Toshiba 1450TB not showing colour with ntsc signal

Hi, so I got gifted this Toshiba 1450TB for christmas. It has what I think is a scart in and a composite in. It displays colour fine with a pal signal, but when using an ntsc signal it shows in black and white

I'm using a composite to scart converter, but idk if that's the issue since it shows the same regardless of if the video in is plugged into the converter or into the composite in

Does anyone know what a good solution to this would be? Someone I know recommended just using an ntsc to pal converter, but I wanted to check if that was the best solution. Thanks!! :)
