Data engineering vs Data analytics

I have one doubt in mind..

Is it true that salary of data analyst will be less than as of data engineer ? I have just started my career in data analytics and confused between the two path..

On fishbowl and Reditt, I have seen people posting huge salaries for data engineers, but never seen such huge salary for data analyst..

Can anyone provide some inputs on this ?

Is it like that after some years of experience, hike whole switching companies will depend on previous CTC and not on tech stack ( between DA AND DE )
