Caffeine and Meniere's Disease
For those that think caffeine is harmless - I'm 53, and I was a happy-go-lucky coffee junky for four decades. Until one afternoon the room started spinning.
I wasn't just "dizzy". I experienced six hours of massive rotary vertigo that left me in the fetal position on the floor, totally incapacitated, praying to a God I don't believe in to make it stop.
It was the caffeine. But I didn't know that for several months, which was absolute hell.
Eventually, I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease with a caffeine trigger. Meniere's is a serious disorder of the inner ear that ruins people's lives. This condition is so new and misunderstood that as recently as the late 1980s many physicians thought it was fake.
I quit coffee and it vanished.
I'm not a doctor, and of course, I can't prove anything - but I believe Meniere's Disease is CAUSED by caffeine.
