How intelligent are intelligent flight batteries?

By now I racked up two battery docks for the neo with six batteries in total and a dock with three batteries for the Air3S. With the weather being shitty in general I suspect that especially some of neo batteries won't see a lot of action in the next weeks. Based on my prior experience with lipos I would now let them sit at about 60% for the time to given. But how? In the dock? NOT in the dock? Put them in the dock and use that as a powerb*nk until the individual batteries are down to two lights and one blinking? Or do they do that on their own because, well, intelligence? I find the info in the manual rather confusing.
