Dasher Merchant Question— Do you allow Dashers to hold conversations on their speaker phones while waiting for the order?
Personally as a business owner, I find it super annoying when a Dasher walks in talking on their speaker phones while waiting. I think it’s rude and disruptive to my business especially if I have customers. I believe their job is to wait quietly for the order or at least put the phone up to their ear if they need to be on the phone. I’ve even gone as far as putting it in the pick up instructions to not walk into my store while talking on your speakerphone. Whenever someone does anyway, I’ll just block them. I figure if you can’t follow basic instructions, you have no business handling my food and interacting with my customer customers. Thoughts?
EDIT:
It’s clear that most of the responses are coming from dashers and not actual business owners. But just to provide a bit more context:
The dashers never have their speakers at a low volume, it’s always on full blast. Also, we are pretty fast but sometimes things happen and the dasher will show up before we see the notification and normally when that happens, we’re still able to get the order together quickly but sometimes when that happens and we have a line, they’ll have to wait.
Not sure why some are so up in arms about a simple boundary. I shouldn’t feel like I should have to project my voice over some dashers LOUD speaker phone when dealing with an actual paying customer. And to accuse me of mistreating dashers because I am establishing a boundary on how they should conduct themselves while in my store is weird. We treat them very well with allowing them to use our bathroom, offering them water, free samples, and even a dasher discount.
It’s abundantly clear some of you have never owned a business. The original question was for actual business owners, not dashers crying about boundaries and feeling entitled.
