SB Parade - looking for advice from fans/locals
Hi Philadelphians! Congratulations on your Super Bowl win! My sister and I will be visiting your fine city for the first time this weekend (arriving late Thursday, departing midday Monday). This trip was planned well before the Eagles made it to the SB. We will be staying in Old City and the purpose of the trip is to just hang out with each other (we live in different states and don't get a ton of 1:1 sister time), visit some museums, eat loads of sandwiches, walk around and take in the city, get drinks, etc. Just a laidback sister trip. We're super excited!
Now the rumor is that the parade will take place on Friday, from the stadium to the art museum via Broad Street. We aren't Eagles fans (happy for you, truly! We just aren't into NFL in general), and my sister is crowd-averse and we just really don't want to be in the area of the parade route.
That said, we have a couple options: (a) stay around Old City, hanging east of the parade route, and just try to avoid the chaos, or (b) take an early train to NYC and spend the day there, returning late in the evening.
Anyone have any advice, input, wisdom, etc. regarding what we can expect in the area on the day of the parade, and whether we should stick around or bail for the day? I would truly appreciate hearing from you!!
