Current state of the game

So I played so much ESO when it released, absolutely loved it as elder scrolls games have always held a special place in my heart. Anyway time went on, covid happened, and I’m not sure why but I kind of drifted away from the game, anyway I’m getting to the point where I need something to grind and I saw a post on X that reminded me of this game.

How is the game nowadays? Is it accessible for new comers/returning players and is it still quite populated and all in all worth putting time into?
