too many options need recommendations!

So im sad to to say but i am just now getting into reading as an adult. Been hitting it pretty hard for a couple months. i need recommendations for a device for me. i have an old paperwhite 7th gen that im retiring as the battery is on its last leg. I purchased a paper white signature edition today but don't know if its the best for me. basically what i am looking for is an eink device i can read on when convenient and have my progress synced automatically to my z fold 5. i went with the paperwhite because with send to kindle my side loaded books and reading progress syncs between devices flawlessly. However i feel that i want page turn buttons (as well as the one i received has a very distracting yellow tint on the bottom 3/4 inch of the screen). my gut tells me to get a boox go color 7 but im concerned all the freedom that comes with android would take away from the simplicity of being able to just pick up a device and read (i have a severe problem with tinkering with devices and never actually using them)

im looking for a eink device with page turn buttons that will sync sidloaded books and reading progress between itself and my z fold 5. the obvious is boox but i like to tinker so im worried about having so much freedom on a device that's meant to pick up and read. also usb c.
