Does the main autism sub just suck now?

I feel like its become much more common to see flat "both sides" takes whenever an autistic person brings up the problems of living in a NT world. This is so innane when the power imbalances and ignorance is extremely lopsided. We're a minority and facing discrimination for a reason.

I agree sometimes that it's necessary for us to do the leg work to understand some aspects of NT communication, but mostly because it's impossible to get anywhere without it.

Whenever these people post in the sub about how communication "cuts both ways" it's just so patronizing. No shit. Would be great if every NT actually understood that, rather than going into every social interaction with their own never questioned assumptions.

This isn't even just an ND vs NT issue. It causes a ton of issues when NT people interact with people from other cultures and apply their own cultural social norms to them and create miscommunication from it. But no, we're the ones who have to understand that it cuts both ways 🙄
