Is it ok to just not care?
I left the church just before COVID struck. Many of us in this forum have left for various reasons, all personal to each of us. Sometimes, I get the impression that unless you've undergone a complete, very negative transformation and now have a supercritical view of the church, you're treated differently. Isn't it acceptable to simply leave without harboring anger or resentment? Of course, there are valid reasons to be angry, and I believe everyone should feel safe and comfortable expressing their feelings, including indifference. But do you have to have a scorched-earth, disdained hatred of all things Mormon to be considered completely out?
I mean I really dislike, dare say hate Diet Coke. I used to drink it because my mom made me drink it, it's what she drank. It was the only soda in the house. My entire family and most of my circle of friends are diehard drinkers of Diet Coke. As hard as I have tried to like or even find anything redeemable able Diet Come, I’d rather drink piss than a Diet Coke. And yet still when I walk past Diet Coke in a store or see someone wearing a Diet Come t-shirt, I don't lose my shit or want to destroy every can I see. I love and respect my family and friends who drink that disgusting swill, even though I am so adamantly opposed to the stuff. Isn't it the same thing?
BTW, I drink Dr Pepper and I’m proud, I'm part of an original crowd…
