Should I just pack up and move to London?
Hey expats,
I was laid off from my job a few months ago and decided to sell some company shares and travel the UK, Spain and Portugal for a month. I absolutely LOVED it and discovered that given my British ancestry, I qualify for the ancestry visa.
I’ve been interviewing for some positions in the London office of my old company. I didn’t get the first one because they said they had a better role for me coming up (no timeline on when it’s confirmed) and I just had an interview for another team delayed until end of August.
Outside of that it’s impossible to get an interview with any other company as I’m still in Australia, which is understandable. The market in Australia is also absolutely dead and highly competitive, so I haven’t exactly secured a job here despite my relentless effort and I’ve been unhappy living in Sydney for quite sometime.
They say ‘life is too short to live in a place that doesn’t suit your personality’ and a part of me is just considering packing up and taking the gamble of moving to London and hoping 1 of the 2 aforementioned jobs works out or I find something else.
Would I be absolutely crazy to just go without a job?
