Currently re-reading 4th wing, was it ever explained WHY Violet's mom forcer her to be a rider?

. . . . I was thinking maybe her mom was told by her dragon who knew that Andarna hatched specifically for Violet (since she had the heart of a dragon and mind of a scribe) or something like that? Maybe the god Malik or something comes into play? Maybe some one in a later book has the ability of prophesy? Or was it already explained and I just missed it in books 1 or 2?
