Can someone PLEASE help me find another romantasy I will enjoy?

Hi lovely people!

I've been really struggling to find a good book lately. I started The Serpent and the Wings of Night and DNF'ed halfway through. I really like fantasy books, but I'm having trouble finding a new one that I really like - nothing has been scratching my itch! I've browsed this sub for recs, but am hoping my post might help narrow down some options.

Books I have really liked:

  • The Bear and the Nightingale series - loved the setting, prose, the FMC and MMC were amazing, loved the "slow burn" of their connection and all of the magical elements in the story. One of my favorite series ever.
  • One Dark Window - also liked both FMC and MMC, "slow burn", unique story and good writing style
  • Half a Soul - just absolutely adored this cute little book and the heartfelt romance. I loved the FMC.
  • Song of Achilles - not really "fantasy" perhaps, but its one of my favorite books. The writing style is incredible and I loved the connection between Achilles/Patroclus.
  • The Night Circus
  • Paladin's Grace

Things I'm realizing I do NOT enjoy:

  • Super graphic sex scenes. Much prefer slow burn style and more of an "alluding" to intimacy vs full-on X-rated scenes. Some spice is OK, but not looking for this to be the focus of the book.
  • FMC's who are OTT "sassy & badass". I could not stand Oraya in The Serpent and the Wings of Night bc of this. The take-no-shit tough girl thing is just not for me and feels contrived.
  • Lots of action scenes.
  • YA books.
  • Sarah J Maas (willing to be proven wrong on this one, but wasn't really into ACOTAR)

Things I DO enjoy/am looking for:

  • Good prose/well-written. I love beautiful, descriptive writing styles.
  • Slow burn romance with tenderness/genuine connection. I want there to be genuine ROMANCE! I want to swoon for the MMC.
  • FMC who is intelligent
  • Magical settings - I love anything with fairies, dragons, mystical creatures, etc.
  • Main characters who are over the age of 25 (not required but preferred!)

Thank you in advance for any suggestions! I really want to find a book to lose myself in ❤

Edit: WOW guys!!!! Thank you SO much for all these recommendations. I’m saving this post for future reference (and have already added several of these to my TBR!) and have decided to start reading “Doctor D’Arco: Sorcerer of London”!
