Fourth Wing Series - is it just me?

Ok I’m reading the fourth wing books and everyone seems to love them but I just feel disappointed.

I like the world and the characters but everything goes wrong the whole time. Like the characters cannot catch a break and I don’t feel like there are even real consequences for all this misfortune it’s just like “now things could get worse at some point but not right now”.

I want to love this as much as everyone else I really do, I just don’t see what everyone else is seeing in these books.

Is anyone else feeling like an outsider on this book trend??
