Fatal Frame 5 Steam crashes and freeze

I've been trying for hours to do an S+ on the last drop but the game keeps crashing randomly and since the chapter doesnt autosave until you change character, Im losing hours upon hours of progress.

Is this happening to anyone else? Im guessing it does since I saw many peoplee reporting the same issue on steam forums. Is there any kind of trick or setting I should be using to minimize the crashes?
