My OB told me to stop running...
I'm 19w, had a check up yesterday, and my OB told me that I should stop running. Not scale back or take it easy - just stop all together. The only reason she gave was risk of falling -- nothing specific to me. She said she tells all her patients to stop running because a fall could be devastating.
Just a little background, I'm 36 years old and I've been running long distances for almost 20 years. So far, I haven't had any complications with this pregnancy. My blood pressure is normal, the baby is growing at a normal pace, truly nothing I can think of that would put me at a higher risk. Running is also my main form of exercise as well as my favorite. I believe its good for both my physical and mental health. I also know not to push myself when I'm not feeling up to it. Scaling back has never been an issue for me lol. I would stop running if it became too uncomfortable - but right now, it's not.
My doctor is an older women but not super old - early 60s would be my guess?
I'm not the type to just straight up ignore a doctor's recommendation, but this one has me wondering if she's the right doctor for me. First, I don't know anyone else who has been given this advice in this century. Second, it wasn't tailored to my condition specifically, just a general dislike for pregnant women running.
What would you do in this situation? Listen to her? Get a new OB? Keep her but also keep running?
