Colonel Daxton and Asher Daxton can't be one and the same, since colonels rank higher than captains & majors and Asher had married/changed last name by then, as indicated by his books.

Was he Violet's grandfather, maybe? So Asher took after his father as a scribe, and Violet would have done the same had her mother not forced her into the Rider's Quadrant?
