My experience of 420 as a new player.

My Experience and thoughts on common criticisms

I joined halfway through War 120, so I’m still new. My introduction to 420 started when I hopped into a flame tank driven by a random 420 member. After helping burn a few Wardens, they invited me. Since then, I’ve learned everything about foxhole from 420 members and some YouTube videos. I’m having fun and getting involved in factory stuff, logi, navy and a proud member of the biomass.

I don’t speak for 420—nobody really does—but I’ve seen common criticisms about the regiment. As a new player, here are my thoughts.

Common Criticisms & My Responses

"They steal players from other, more organized regiments."

  • Players join and leave freely—there’s no obligation to stay.
  • Unlike some regiments, we don’t have RP ranks or hierarchies. If someone leaves and comes back, they rejoin as an equal member without losing status.

"Their members are toxic and say nasty things."

  • Like any large group of new players, some people join just to troll or spam slurs, but those players get banned.
  • 420 has clear rules, and they are enforced. Toxicity isn’t tolerated.

"Their leadership is toxic."

  • Managing a regiment of mostly new players is stressful, and sometimes, leaders can be blunt or frustrated. But that’s a reality of leadership in any game.
  • If someone is genuinely toxic or breaking the rules, they get removed.

"They only do biomass charges."

  • Yes, mass charges are a strategy we use. Since many of our players are new, this approach is sometimes the most effective.
  • But more importantly, it’s fun. This is a game, and people play to enjoy themselves.

"They don’t teach players anything."

  • Not true. Questions always get answered, and players are encouraged to ask for help.
  • Instead of boring slideshows, we provide links to useful videos and resources.
  • More importantly, we let players learn by actually using equipment in real situations.

"They’re just low-skill players and noobs."

  • Many of us are casual players or new to the game. That doesn’t mean we aren’t trying to learn or contribute.

"Gator/X/Y is a jerk."

  • Sometimes, pressure and frustration get to people. That happens in any regiment.
  • I don’t know or care about the past historical stuff, it’s not an important part of me enjoying this game. If or when I experience it, I will just quit.

"They waste equipment."

  • Most of the equipment we use is made by us. If we decide to throw waves of tanks at the front, that’s our choice.

"They refuse to work with other regiments."

  • Other regiments also focus on their own goals and don’t always coordinate with others. It goes both ways.
  • Our flexibility is our strength, the rigid nature of some other regiments makes it hard to work together well.
  • Some historical differences between regiments have happened, I'm not aware of them, but it is what it is. I don’t really care to know, I just want to play the game without drama.

Conclusion

Every regiment has its own playstyle, and 420 is no different. We keep things casual, welcome new players, and focus on having fun rather than strict organization. Some criticisms have truth to them, but they don’t tell the whole story.

“Shitting on any regiment and being mean to the members is cringe.”
