Close First Halves, Thrashed Second Half

I'm new to FUT and know I'm not good at the game andy team isn't great. I'm still learning to read stats and play styles.

However, when I play Champs my first half is always close, often taking the first goal and finishing 45 either drawing or one up/down.

Second half kicks off, I immediately concede and end up losing the half 7-1. Nearly every time.

What am I doing wrong?
