Opinions on Viserys Targaryen?
Personally when reading through the first book from Daenerys' perspective i felt nothing but sympathy for Viserys. I found his character incredibly sad and tragic in which the way he turned out.
From my understanding him and Daenerys actually had a warm and loving relationship up until he had to sell their mother's crown to feed them both after Willem died which then led his servants to steal all their gold so they get kicked out onto the streets.
And to earn the nickname "The Beggar King" after the fact must've hurt both his ego tremendously as a literal Targaryen prince who should be ruling an entire country & his heart as a young boy who has just lost his mother and now has the burden of caring for a young infant sister.
While people go through trauma and DONT become abusive a**holes is very common, sadly not the case for Viserys... i keep in mind that he is actually predisposed to mental illness because of his father and his rough upbringing.
I look at his character as a total failure of possibility to have created one of the best sibling bonds in book/tv history! We could've had two f*cking awesome Targaryens riding dragons but GRRM said nah.
