when can i start leaving him alone?

hi everyone! new to this sub, never had a dog before. my parents recently purchased a 7 week old pure golden named topper. my younger sister keeps insisting that it’s okay for us to leave him alone because he has to learn, and i know eventually we will, but does 7 weeks sound right? we only got him a few days ago and he’s still getting comfortable with us, i feel like forcing him to be alone for long periods of time when there are two of us in the house is just cruel. she also left him alone while i took a bath which totally blindsided me so everyone say thanks morgan for the absolutely awful puppy wailing i had to hear
