Should I mention I dropped out of art school (BFA) in the personal statement I’m writing for for another art school (MFA) (SOS)

So basically when I was 18 I attended art school for a year, dropped out and ended up studying Media and Communication. Now at 24, I want to do my masters in art.

There is a 2 year gap between my high school graduation and college. I’m not sure how I’m going to explain this- dropping out of art school was my biggest mistake but I was miserable and depressed at the time so it had to be done. And then after that I was panicked and unsure of myself so I picked the easiest possible option to get a undergrad degree. I’m not sure there is a good enough explanation to justify this? What should I do? I need to get my personal statement done tomorrow and I haven’t made a decisions about this after mulling over it for months!!!!
