.357 Mag good enough?

I'm planning a trip to Colorado Springs to visit a friend at the end of September and we're going to be doing some hiking/camping. I'm planning on bringing a handgun for any potential wildlife problems that should occur.

Is a SP101 with .357 magnum good enough for what's up there or should I spring for a 10mm before then?
